The role of libraries in the process of communication. Part 2.
SZENTE Ferenc
The author analyses the changes occurring in the mother tongue, in the community-forming cultural activities and in the environment. The education in the mother tongue, the attunement to reading should start in the early childhood. These are the most important preconditions of that the child be able to communicate during his/her life. The author also mentions the alarming cultural-social crisis characterising our world today, and states that it is a herald of the integrating world economy. The related problems can be perceived at a certain level in the library as well, and must be faced by the librarians. If they support education in the mother tongue and have the necessary empathy, they can contribute to people establishing normal communication. (pp. 603609)
